Investment invitation in Shanghai experienced a fast increase this year. From Jan. to May, newly approved projects were 2022 with a commitment of US$5.163 billion, and actual appropriation amounted to US$2.992 billion, up by 68.5%, 43.2% and 46% respectively. By now, over 29700 enterprises from over 170 countries and regions have invested in Shanghai. 32 MNCs headquartered in there.
Investment invitation in Shanghai presented two features: Big sum in single investment. Shanghai invited 173 big projects each with an investment exceeding US$10 million in first 5 months, accounting for over 70% of total commitment; More investment increase, over 1/3 of the fresh commitments made by existing foreign investment projects in Shanghai; Only in the first 4 months, about 30 FDI each made an investment increase of over US$10 million
Main reasons for FDI increase in Shanghai were: higher investment returns, and comparatively perfect industry and service policies.
