Baxter Increases USD146m of Capital in China

Recently, the American largest transfusion enterprise Baxter International Inc. announced to invest USD146m in updating and expanding the factories in Guangzhou, Suzhou, Tianjin and Shanghai to increase the output of intravenous infusion fluid and peritoneal dialysis fluid. This decision will create 1,000 new jobs in 2009.
“China is the major growth market in Asia-Pacific region.” said by Gerald Lema, the vice president of Baxter and president of the Asia-Pacific region. In the past few years, Baxter has invested more than USD250m in China, and the annual sales in 2008 was about USD200m.
“Further investment in China illustrates that China is important for Baxter’s geographical expansion and business growth,” said by Robert L. Parkinson, president and CEO of Baxter, “More than 60% of Baxter’s revenue is from the regions outside the United States, and the global development is critical to Baxter’s future growth.”
