MOFCOM: Ensure Service Outsourcing Information Safety to Have Laws to Abide by

Li Ling, director of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said at the “service outsourcing series activities” of the 13th CIFIT held in Xiamen on September 9 that relevant departments will release related provisions recently in a bid to promote enterprises in China that are engaged in service outsourcing business to properly protect privacy information to maintain the environment of fair competition. Li said the information security in the process of service outsourcing is increasingly paid attention to by all aspects. The No.9 document of the General Office of the State Council explicitly requires that “the security regulations of business information data should be researched and formulated”, and such departments as the Ministries of Commerce, and Industry and Information Technology should strengthen the research into the service outsourcing information security and have drawn up the Several Provisions on Domestic Enterprises Engaging in Service Outsourcing Information Protection (Draft), which will be released recently. It was known that the Several Provisions consists of items of suggestiveness and guiding, mainly prescribing the issues including the scope of privacy information and the privacy measures that should be adopted by the contractors.
