MOFCOM: The Global Economic Recovery Will Bring New Opportunity to Chinese Enterprises to “Go Abroad”

| Wang Chao, assist minister of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on September 9 that the gradual recovery of the global economy and the adjustment of the industry deployment and division worldwide will bring new opportunities to Chinese enterprises to conduct investment abroad as well as extreme challenges. Chinese government will continuously encourage and support Chinese strong enterprises to conduct investment abroad to conduct the business of investment and cooperation abroad.
He made the aforesaid statement at the “news conference on the promotion report of Chinese investment abroad” held in Xiamen. Wang pointed out that the sustainable growth of investment abroad of Chinese investment is not only the necessary requirement of the development itself but also greatly benefits the employment, and increase of taxation and export and earning foreign exchange of the countries receiving investment.
In recent years, the pace of Chinese enterprises of “go abroad” is accelerating, with the foreign direct investment of non-financial category increasing from USD2.7b in 2002 to USD40.65b in 2008, at the average annual growth of more than 60%.
Wang expressed that in transnational investment, the outbreak of the financial crisis has directly impacted the willingness and ability of investment of enterprises, which restrains the global flow of foreign direct investment to the maximum. So China’s foreign direct investment will be also suffered great influence inevitably.
